Austin Tesla Limo Service

One of the barriers to entry with Tesla’s being used in a Tesla Limo Service is how to keep them charged up.  With all the miles that are put on them each day, finding convenient, fast charging options can be very challenging.  So almost two years ago now, we contacted ChargePoint to get pricing on a DC fast charger in hopes of purchasing one that we could utilize for our Austin Tesla Limo Service.  However, to our surprise, ChargPoint mentioned that we should contact Austin Energy because of a partnership that they were working with them on to donate 10 DC Fast Chargers to be installed in and around Austin.  We contacted Austin Energy and scheduled a meeting.  We met and then drove an Austin Energy representation over to our land, in one of our Tesla Model X’s.  We talked about how great of an opportunity it would be to have a Charger installed on our land, not only for our use, but for the convenient use of the public.  Austin Energy agreed and they offered us a letter of intent stating that they would donate a DC fast charger for us to install on our land.  What follows was a mad rush to have the land ready in time for the charger installation.  We began with re-zoning the land for our use case (a very expensive 9 month process) while simultaneously engaging a civil engineer (another costly endeavor) to draw up construction plans to submit for city approval.  Later, we sought funding for phase 1 construction.  Slowly but surely, everything came together and we came in ahead of schedule for the completion of phase 1 construction which was finished in December 2018.  We are now poised and ready for the installation of the DC fast charger sometime in Q1 of 2019.  Once the charger is in place, we will have a convenient place across from the airport for the general public to charge up, grab a bite to eat at El Michoacán’s next door and hopefully introducing them to Elektrica Limo’s Austin Tesla Limo Service and Elektrica Rentals and Sales.
